Mardi Himal is the name of the long rising ridge and its summit that forms the southwesterly slope of Machhapuchare immediately below its sheer south face. Machhapuchare, known as Fishtail Mountain because of its twin peaks that mirror the image of a fish tail, towers majestically over the Pokhara Valley. Superbly beautiful and considered sacred, no permits have yet been issued to climb this mountain.
